Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant oil and gas reserve discovery in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with ongoing production at the Baragzai X-01 exploratory well yielding thousands of barrels of crude and millions of cubic feet of gas per day.
The government has welcomed this discovery as a boost to the country’s energy sector and a step toward reducing energy import dependence. The well has begun producing hydrocarbon resources as part of its exploration programme.
The production reported from the discovery shows approximately 4,100 barrels of crude oil per day and 10.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day being yielded. A significant addition to Pakistan’s domestic energy output.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, calling it a major milestone for the country’s energy sector that could help reduce dependence on energy imports and improve energy security.
