UP, following a dispute a 52 year old Rani from Farrukhabad was murdered by her 26 year old boyfriend Arun Rajput who strangled her with a scarf.
The two met about 18 months ago via Instagram, where Rani allegedly used filters to hide her age, leading Arun Rajput to believe she was much younger. Their online chats developed into a relationship, and they frequently met at hotels in Farrukhabad.
Two mobile phones were also recovered from him. Police further stated that Rani, who is a mother of four children, had also given Arjun Rajput ₹1.5 lakh over the course of their relationship.
