New Delhi has entered into high alert for 77th Republic Day.

77th Republic Day

As the preparation has started in the national capital of India to celebrate the 77th Republic Day in New Delhi. The Full Dress Rehearsal was completed on January 23rd and served as a final blueprint for the main event on January 26th, showcasing India's military strength and cultural heritage under a blanket of unprecedented security.

The rehearsal mirrored the official parade route, beginning at 10:30 AM from Vijay Chowk and culminating at the Red Fort.

Path: Vijay Chowk → Kartavya Path → 'C' Hexagon → Tilak Marg → Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg → Netaji Subhash Marg → Red Fort.

Tableaux: A total of 30 tableaux—including 17 from States/UTs and 13 from various Ministries—participated, focusing on the dual themes of "Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram" and "Samriddhi ka Mantra: Aatmanirbhar Bharat."

For the first time, Delhi Police has integrated AI-enabled smart glasses into its security apparatus. These spectacles feature:

  • Real-Time Facial Recognition: Instantly cross-referencing individuals against a database of known offenders.

  • Infrared & Thermal Imaging: Allowing for enhanced detection in low-visibility or crowded conditions.

  • Multi-Layer Checks: A rigorous three-tier screening process is in place for all pedestrians and vehicles entering the vicinity of Kartavya Path.

To facilitate the parade and ensure public safety, several arterial roads face significant restrictions:

  • Closures: Kartavya Path (from Vijay Chowk to India Gate) remains closed to all traffic. Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Subhash Marg are strictly regulated during parade hours.

  • Metro Restrictions: While the Metro remains operational, specific gates at stations like Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lal Quila, and Jama Masjid are temporarily closed for security during rehearsal and event hours.

  • Alternate Routes: Commuters are advised to utilize the Ring Road, Ridge Road, and Aurobindo Marg to bypass Central Delhi.
