Transformer Blast in Ghaziabad’s Khora Colony Area

A transformer exploded loudly in Ghaziabad near Damodar Vihar and Kavita Palace on 17 January 2026. The blast resulted in boiling oil spilling out and causing injuries to at least 5 people. Causing disturbance in the area.

The 5 people reportedly suffered burns from hot oil. A video captured a man running seeking help https://www.instagram.com/reels/DTmjtTljesp/. Emergency responders were seen helping injured people at the scene.

The locals raised concern that officials from the Power Department took 5 hours to reach the location, leaving injured people waiting for assistance. Locals have demanded better maintenance of transformers and better response from the Power Department in emergency.
